Welcome to ‘An Introduction to the AIDS Competence Process’

(You can find a version of this course in French here.)
(On peut trouver une version française de ce cours
ici.)

The Constellation and the Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine have made this course freely available for any group interested in facilitating the AIDS Competence Approach. When you have completed this course, we believe that you will have a good sense of how the ‘AIDS Competence Process' can be facilitated. A full Blended Learning Programme with face to face and distance interaction with experienced coaches is available for groups who want to establish a firm facilitation team. If you would like to discuss the possibilities for following such a programme please contact us at info@aidscompetence.org.

Coaches of the Constellation have introduced our process to communities around the world and those communities have then used it on their journey to AIDS Competence. AIDS Competence is the place or 'state' where individuals, groups and communities are able to deal with the threats and challenges that the AIDS pandemic presents. They have also used our process to learn from the experiences of other communities and to share their own experiences with other communities.

There are 2 other sources of information available to you on the web about the Constellation and the AIDS Competence Process.

  • You will find more information about the Constellation, the work that we do and how we do it at our webite. The site also contains a diary that will tell you about future Constellation events. If you can attend any of these events please contact us info@aidscompetence.org and we will make you very welcome.
  • You will find our social network at Ning. Here you will find lots of people who are working with the AIDS Competence process. They are telling their stories and they are having discussions. If you want to work through the course, we suggest strongly that you join our Ning group. Again, please contact us at info@aidscompetence.org and we will send you an invitation to join the group.

The course is made up of 6 modules that will guide you through our process. When we were developing this material, our idea is that a group of people would work through the content. While the reading of text and listening to videos can be done individually, many of the exercises will ask that you come together as a group to discuss issues as a group and begin to develop a team understanding of the issues under discussion. We recommend very strongly that if you are going to work your way through this programme, you do it with a group of friends and colleagues.

Please send us your feedback on the programm at bl_feeback@aidscompetence.org.
